This component acts as a "transfer station" for molten steel from the ladle to the crystallizer. It's suitable for both slab and billet production lines, ensuring a stable flow of molten steel, uniform composition, and filtering out impurities, resulting in more reliable casting quality.
The Intermediate Package mainly consists of several parts: the body is welded from Q345B steel plate and stress-relieved, making it exceptionally strong. Volumes from 5 to 30 cubic meters are available to suit different casting speed requirements. The inner lining is made of magnesium-aluminum spinel bricks and insulation boards. These bricks are high-temperature resistant and erosion-resistant, and combined with the insulation boards, provide excellent heat retention and a long service life.
The flow control system includes a slag dam and a turbulence suppressor, which streamline the molten steel flow and reduce slag entrainment. Some models include induction heating to maintain the molten steel temperature for more stable casting. The package has trunnions on both sides for easy lifting by cranes; the bottom features a sliding nozzle, allowing precise control of the opening size through the displacement of the sliding plate, ensuring accurate molten steel flow to the crystallizer.
