The workpieces, after undergoing blank aging, precision machining, non-destructive testing, and full-dimensional inspection, all met standards and were successfully supplied to a metallurgical and mining equipment project. This processing was led by a senior technician with 32 years of experience, leveraging his frontline practical experience to implement a mature and stable heavy-duty precision component processing solution.


In the field of mechanical component processing, thick-walled cast steel shells commonly suffer from stress deformation and excessive internal hole coaxiality, resulting in a generally high scrap rate in the industry. Yuexin Machinery abandoned its extensive processing methods and established a standardized blank pretreatment system to ensure the processing accuracy and finished product stability of cast steel components from the source.

All cast steel blanks undergo a uniform 28-day natural aging treatment, effectively releasing internal residual stress and replacing the high-cost tempering process. This reduces the cost per piece by 12%, significantly reduces machining deformation and dimensional deviations, and improves the pass rate of non-standard component processing.

Based on years of practical experience, the company has solidified a three-stage standard processing flow to stabilize component processing accuracy:


First, rough machining with layered control.Heavy-duty floor-type boring and milling machines are used for layered milling. A 2.2mm finishing allowance is reserved on each side of the flange, and a 0.8mm allowance is reserved on non-mating surfaces of the inner cavity. Black skin from the casting is removed layer by layer to avoid secondary cutting stress and ensure the stability of the finishing datum.

Second, temperature-controlled segmented machining.The workshop maintains a constant temperature of 18-22℃, implementing a "4 hours of machining, 3 hours of cooling" work system to avoid dimensional deviations caused by temperature differences and equipment temperature rise, stabilizing the machining accuracy of large mechanical parts.

Third, unified datum finishing.Using the bottom mounting surface of the workpiece as the sole datum, multiple layers of internal hole boring are completed in a single clamping. The coaxiality of the bearing holes is controlled within 0.025mm, meeting the high-precision assembly standards of heavy-duty reducers and motor housings.


2. In-depth analysis of professional processes | Standardized processes empower the customization of precision parts

The workpieces are made of ZG310-570 engineering cast steel, characterized by high strength and impact resistance, suitable for heavy-duty mining and metallurgical applications. The castings are poured using a constant-temperature bottom-pouring slow-speed method at 1560℃, reducing inherent defects such as porosity and sand inclusions, and lowering the probability of defects in precision machining of cast steel parts.


The finished products undergo precision testing, achieving flange flatness ≤0.03mm/m, inner hole cylindricity reaching IT7 precision grade, and sealing groove roughness Ra1.6μm, fully meeting the processing and acceptance requirements of domestic heavy industrial equipment and export machinery parts.


The technical team optimizes CNC programming based on massive amounts of practical data, solidifying mature cutting parameters: using YT15 carbide tools, a depth of cut of 3.5mm, and a feed rate of 2100mm/min, tool wear is reduced by 30%, machining cycle time is shortened by 18%, and the process is incorporated into the company's SOP, enabling efficient and precise mass production of parts.
